Jobs and The Rise of AI

In my honest opinion, with the rise of AI, I highly doubt many jobs will be available in the future. I have already witnessed common jobs be replaced by AI technology, ranging from drive thrus to even art. At this rate, it is not long before AI begins to take over more manual jobs as well, given that there are robots currently in development to be an exact replica of a modern day human.

When Oversimplification Works

The trend of oversimplification has received a mass of negative feedback. However, in some cases, the simplification of once heavily designed logos does it justice instead of harm. For example, take Mastercard; what was once a logo that was obscured by text in the middle is now a simple venn-diagram. The logo itself is still recognizable regardless, and many responded positively to this change due to it being less distracting and easier to process, rather than the complicated version that existed once before.

Simplification Isn’t Always the Answer

Continuing off of my previous post, another simplified logo that failed to please the public is the Pringles logo. Beforehand, the logo was known and characterized by Mr. P having glistening brown hair and shining eyes places onto him. This made it stand apart from other logos due to it also giving him a recognizable face. Now, the logo has been reduced to a white circle with solid black eyes and mustache with the Pringles’ name slapped onto his bow. A large percent of consumers considered this a downgrade for various reasons, to removing the ability to put the new logo on a solid white background to throwing out all characterization of the chip.

What’s the Deal With Brand Simplification?

Over the past few years, many brands have resorted to simplifying their logos often for the sake of being more memorable, appearing more “modern”, and to create a less cluttered look for business cards or other marketable material; however, many consumers have expressed distaste in this ongoing trend. Discord is a popular example, as plenty of users (myself included), vocalized their disappointment with the new logo and the loss of uniqueness and character associated with it. In addition, many dislike the hue shift as well, claiming that it’s much more harmful on their eyes due to the bright colors. This goes to show that although the companies often think this change is for the better, it is clear to see that often times it backfires.

Surf’s Up at Myrtle Beach!

Where

This weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting South Carolina’s Myrtle Beach and it was absolutely beautiful! The waves were as blue as the sky, and everything was so lively! I even indulged in my childhood dream and made a sand castle as I soaked up the warm sun and the ocean breeze. Here’s some more information about it so you can see for yourself! https://www.visitmyrtlebeach.com/

The Great Future of Adobe AI

Within the past year, Adobe has adopted AI usage into it’s programs. Although some may argue that this is a negative change for the company, AI brings solutions to problems that the common user will face without the headache.

For example, Adobe’s generative AI uses individuals data to learn and mimic patterns, rather than needing to have explicit programming. This allows for the AI to generate more specific images and and verbiage. The feature completely eliminates the need to make the elements from scratch, which saves you as the designer time as well.
